Several Nature Reserves in China Selected for IUCN Green List

On December 10, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) announced in Montreal, Canada, the update of the IUCN Green List.

Eleven Chinese nature reserves, including Guangzhou Haizhu National Wetland Park, Hunan Huebishan National Nature Reserve, Huangguoshu Scenic Area and Shennongjia National Park, were selected.

The list, announced during the second phase of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), includes a total of 18 nature reserves, including 11 in China, 3 in Mexico, 2 in Peru, and 1 each in France and Zambia.

This brings the total number of nature reserves on the IUCN Green List to 77.

Among them, Shaanxi Changqing National Nature Reserve and Longwan Group National Forest Park, which had been previously selected for the Green List, received renewed certificates this time.
